Allison Wheatley – Physiotherapist
Allison is the owner and a solo practicing physiotherapist of Byford Physiotherapy.
Her clinic is located inside the extension building of the Byford Medical Centre. Her practice shares the building with Clinipath Pathology, a GP specialising in skin cancers and problems, a psychologist, a podiatrist, an upper limb Occupational Therapist, a Dietician, Prospect Medical Imaging (Ultrasound imaging) and an Audiologist.
Career
Allison has worked in a wide variety of physiotherapy areas, including hospitals, aged care, private practice and in orthopaedic research. She graduated from Curtin University of Technology with Honours in 1989 and then went back to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy in 1995. Allison has also completed Level 1 and 2 Gerontology courses and has extensive experience with older clients. Allison is a member of her professional association – Australian Physiotherapy Association.
Allison has 12 years experience working in Aged Care Facility. She has strong values in caring for the aged and is committed to ensuring they are able to function at home at the highest and safest level possible. Allison has significant experience with clients with dementia. Home visits work well with clients with mobility or memory difficulties. Allison is happy to attend your home or the home of your loved one to provide physiotherapy.
Allison has significant experience working in the area of orthopaedics, specifically joint replacements and post-surgery recovery in Hollywood Private Hospital.
Allison spent 3 years working alongside a number of Orthopaedic Surgeons completing a research paper looking at the different outcomes of computer-assisted technology following knee replacements. She contributed to a research paper on the psychological outcomes on chronic low back pain.
Personal
Allison lives locally and enjoys looking after her property with her family. Her daughter is a keen equestrian rider and her son loves his surfing and fishing. Allison is an active member of Kelmscott and Magenup Adult Riding Clubs.
